The Queens Baton Relay Coracle Drift

July 19, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 8:30 am

A flotilla of over 27 coracles from Ironbridge Coracle Trust supported by canoes and kayaks from Stafford Canoe and Watersports Club and boats from Ironbridge Rowing Club and Vic Haddock Canoe Hire,  will transport the Queen’s Baton Relay down to the Iron Bridge.
The Batonbearer will be transported in a specially decorated two-seater coracle and the flotilla will be decorated in gorgeous silk bunting in the colours of the Queen’s Baton Relay.
The flotilla will leave the beach by the Museum of the Gorge at 8am and will be waved on its way by ancient Stone Age coraclers Dan and Naomi from www.Outback2basics
The flotilla will pass under the world famous Iron Bridge and be off the water by 8.20am.
When and How to watch this event:
The Wharfage will be closed to vehicles from 7am -11am
There will be no Park and Ride in place and spectators are encouraged to arrive early to get a parking space
Parking will be available at the Museum of the Gorge, Waterloo Street and Station Yard car parks
Viewing areas will be available all along the Wharfage starting at the Museum of the Gorge right down to the Iron Bridge.
